The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong will hold an Oral Health Exhibition and an ’Oral Health Info Desk’ in the main lobby of the Prince Philip Dental Hospital on March 20 (Wednesday) to mark the World Oral Health Day. The event is free and open to the public.
The World Oral Day (WOHD), initiated by FDI World Dental Federation, is celebrated globally every year on March 20 to highlight the importance of oral health for a good healthy body and to enhance awareness of good oral hygiene practices, educating adults and children about healthy dietary habits and the benefits of maintaining good oral health and well-being.
The theme this year is ‘Say Ahh: Act on Mouth Health’. The Faculty invites the public to join to ‘Say Ahh’ and have an understanding on the importance of oral health to their general health and well-being. Dentistry students will demonstrate daily flossing and tooth brushing.
In addition, the Faculty and the Hong Kong Dental Association will jointly organise a World Oral Health Day Symposium – ‘The Impact of Oral Disease on General Health’. Lectures will be given by former President of the FDI World Dental Federation Dr Wong Tin-chun and academics at the Faculty.
