With the establishment of The University of Hong Kong - Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation (HKU-SCF) FinTech Academy in April, new initiatives on talent development, research and community outreach have been planned and implemented.
The HKU-SCF Scholarships were offered to eight HKU students studying the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Financial Technology (BASc (FinTech)) programme for the 2020/21 academic year, each at the value of HK$50,000, including one full scholarship of up to HK$200,000.
Brief biographies of two scholarship recipients Rain LEE Sze Choi and Eva LAI Mei Kwan interviewed today (November 11) are as follows:
Rain LEE Sze Choi is a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Financial Technology Year 1 student at HKU. Rain has developed a passion for Programming since his secondary school years. Thanks to the opportunities given by his secondary school and the university, he was able to gain experiences and solidify his passion for studying FinTech. He hopes to become an expert in mobile payment. Rain graduated from St Stephen’s College. He receives a full scholarship of up to HK$200,000 for four years.
Eva LAI Mei Kwan is a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Financial Technology Year 2 student at HKU. minoring in Japanese and Psychology. Since a young age, she has been curious and passionate about technology. Hoping to work in a field she loves and at a position that allows leadership, Eva aspires to establish her own startup on technological innovation. Eva graduated from Diocesan Girls’ College. She receives a scholarship of HK$50,000.
