HKU to confer honorary degrees upon three outstanding individuals
at the 199th Congregation

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will confer honorary degrees upon three outstanding individuals at the 199^th Congregation to be held on May 18 (Firday) in the Grand Hall, Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, Centennial Campus.

The honorary degree recipients to be conferred at the Congregation are:

Doctor of Science honoris causa
TANG Ching Wan

Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa
Jack MA Yun
David MONG Tak Yeung

Honorary Degrees are awarded to individuals in recognition of their distinguished service and commitment to the University, the community, and to academia.  They are also conferred to those who have made valuable intellectual, social and cultural contributions to society and the world.

The Ceremony will be presided by the Chancellor of the University, the Chief Executive of the HKSAR The Hon Mrs Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet Ngor.  One of the honorary degrees recipients, Dr Jack MA will deliver an Acceptance Speech on behalf of the honorary graduates at the Congregation.

Details of the Ceremony as follows:
Date: May 18, 2018 (Friday)
Time: 5:30pm (Media registration starts at 4:00pm)
Venue: Grand Hall, Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, Centennial Campus, HKU

Notes:

1. Please proceed to the Grand Hall after registration. There will be no media arrangement in the Foyer area before the Ceremony.
2. Inside the Grand Hall, please stay at designated media zones for photo taking and filming.
3. Sound box facilities for audio recording are provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.
4. Photographers are reminded to bring long lenses and not to use flashlight inside the Grand Hall.

The group photo of the honorary degree recipients will be officially released by the University after the Ceremony.
