HKU to hold Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2018

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will hold an Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions on Saturday (November 3) to provide an opportunity for prospective students to understand the academic programmes offered at the University for the 2019-20 academic year.
An opening ceremony will be held at the Grand Hall of the Centennial Campus at 9:15am. HKU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Zhang Xiang, Vice President (Global) Professor John Kao, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Professor Ian Holliday, Registrar Mr Henry Wai, Director of Undergraduate Admissions Professor John A. Spinks, and Chairman of University Admissions Committee Dr Philip Beh will officiate at the event.
A media briefing will be held to introduce HKU's new admission requirements for JUPAS for 2019-20 at 10am in CPD 216, 2/F, Run Run Shaw Tower (Arts Building), Centennial Campus.
In addition, the University and its Faculties will hold admission talks to provide important information including statistical figures on 2018-19 admissions, the latest admission requirements for various programmes via JUPAS and non-JUPAS, and the trend of development for admission scores.

JUPAS
First talk (in Cantonese and English)
Time: 9:15 to 10:30am (admission begins at 9am)
Venue: Grand Hall, Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, Centennial Centre, HKU
A suite of new interdisciplinary undergraduate degree programmes (Bachelor of Arts & Sciences degrees) will be launched in 2019/20, including five BASc programmes and one BASc programme for senior year students. Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Professor Ian Holliday, Deans of the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Science and Social Sciences, and Associate Dean of Faculty of Architecture will in the talk explain the curriculum vision, design philosophy and prospects of graduates.
Second talk (in English)
Time: 12:30pm to 1:30pm (admission begins at 12:15pm)
Venue: Grand Hall, Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, Centennial Centre, HKU
University of Cambridge Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor David Cardwell will at the talk introduce the Cambridge Undergraduate Recruitment Scheme (Engineering and Computer Science) jointly offered with HKU.
Non-JUPAS (in English)
Time: 11:00am to 12:00pm (admission begins at 10:45am)

Event highlights
1. More dual degrees offered with top universities overseas to nurture a global mindset in students.HKU offers a number of collaborative undergraduate admission programmes in collaboration with top universities overseas such as Sciences Po, University of Cambridge, and University College London. The first cohort of students enrolled in the Dual Degree students in Law in collaboration with University College London (HKU-UCL Law Programme) have completed their first two years at UCL and are now studying their final two years at HKU. HKU will continue to offer more dual degree programmes with universities including internationally renowned institutions in the US, for undergraduate students admitted in 2019. Details will be announced at the Admissions Talks.
2. New programmes - interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts & Sciences degrees
The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts & Sciences programmes provide high-quality, transformative learning experiences for the best and brightest talents in Hong Kong and from overseas, such as a highly interdisciplinary curriculum, a cutting-edge leadership programme, exchange opportunities with top institutes including Yale, UC Berkeley, UBC, LSE, UCL etc., tailored internship opportunities with Google, NVidia, WHO, UN etc. as well as experiential learning. 3. New programme - Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education and Special Education
The Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, led by the Faculty of Education, is a five-year programme aimed at equipping students with academic and professional training, to help them obtain dual professional qualifications for kindergarten teachers and special child care workers (for children aged 0-6). The programme covers academic theories, professional teaching placements in early childhood education institutions and academic research training, to help students understand the developmental and learning needs of children aged 0-6.

Time: 2:45 to 3:15pm
Venue: Room 206, 2/F, Runme Shaw Building, HKU
In addition, exhibitions, laboratory experience and demonstration activities will be organised by the ten Faculties. Highlights of the day include medical clinical demonstration by the Faculty of Medicine and mock lectures by the Faculty of Social Sciences. Other activities include student performances, cheering competitions by Hall representatives, and more.
